This is the information website of the Citizens Advice Bureau Organisation. It contains information on the wide range of subjects that local citizen advice bureaux assist with. It is written specifically for the public and is easy to understand. If you simply need information about your query, you may find the answer here.

2. Community Legal Services Direct

Tel: 08453 454 345 Mon – Fri 9am – 5pm

This is a service run by the Legal Aid Board. It provides free information and advice direct to the public on debt, welfare benefits or education. Every caller will get upto 30 minutes free legal advice. However, if you qualify for legal aid you can get further free help, including the take up of your case by a qualified legal adviser. The adviser will do a legal aid check. All advice given is confidential and independent.

3. National Debtline

This is a free, confidential and independent helpline, which provides advice on how to deal with debt problems. You can also get e-mail advice. They have a selection of fact sheets and self-help packs.

4. Shelterline

Shelter provides a free and confidential national telephone advice line on all aspects of housing problems. They also have fact sheets you can download from their website. www.shelter.org.uk

5. Consumer Direct London

This is a telephone and online consumer advice and information service. It is funded by the Department of Trade and Industry and provided in partnership with Trading Standards. Consumers can access quality consumer advice through a national phone number.

6. ACAS Employment Helpline

ACAS provide independent practical information and advice on relevant employment law. They can advise on your rights and options available to you. Their website has many fact sheets on a wide range of employment problems. Their services are available to both employees and employers.
